New Richmond - James "Jim" Harris, 78, died Monday afternoon in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He had been in the hospital about two weeks. Mr. Harris was born in Harden (sic) County, KY on Aug 14, 1891. He was the son of Mary C. Dowdale Harris and James Harris. He had been a resident of New Richmond for 40 years. Mr. Harris did general farm work and was the New Richmond Marshall 17 years. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Max Shake of Dayton, Ohio a son, TMI Lee E. Harris in the Underseas Weapon Fleet School at San Diego, Calif; four sisters, Mrs. James Knotts of Indianapolis; Mrs. Pearl Oswalt of Lafayette; Mrs. Lena Boeldt of New Richmond and Mrs. Edward Roberts of Edinburg, Ind; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and sevearl nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a sister. Services will be conducted by John Foxworthy at 1 p.m. Thursday in Helms Funeral Home at Linden. Burial in New Richmond Cemetery.
